Have I ever told you how much I love traveling?
Well, it's partly because of the spontaneity and uniqueness I often experience, reminding me of how lucky I am.
I happened to be in Sydney on the day of an amazing art event without even knowing it was on.
I met with my Australian friends whom I had previously met in Canada (such a small world :-)) and I had only ever seen them on snowy hills in a ski resort every winter in North America.
I never thought of meeting them in Sydney, but as I happened to be there, I contacted them and we met for lunch on Bondi Beach.
As we chatted, Lou mentioned the Vivid show being held in the evening. I had no idea what a Vivid show was, but as I was free in the evening, I thought I would give it a go. I only needed to turn up to the city center and hang around the Opera House to watch some lights.
All right then, I can do that and will see.
I didn’t have time to Google or research what it was all about, I just made my way to the city center after spending the afternoon in Bondi. I headed first to a Contemporary Museum because I remembered they had toilets and a roof cafe there. It would be maybe a good idea to have a hot chocolate before I walked through the city center to see the show.
And there I was, on the roof of a contemporary museum being told by a waiter who was serving me, mentioning that the show would start any second.
"And where is it?"
"Just stay here and look."
So, I did. I only turned my back and stepped towards the railing of the roof terrace when the show of light started.
Amazed at how lucky and fortunate I was to be at the right time in the right place, without having a clue how spectacular and colorful this display would be.
Sydney was packed with thousands of people traveling from all over to see this show, and I happened to be on the rooftop overlooking them all.
I watched the most wonderful and extraordinary lighting, aboriginal stories with contemporary music from the best spot in the whole of Sydney.
